On August 22, 2019 the Advocating 4 Kids, workshop on "Restraint and Seclusion: How to Protect Your Child " was a huge success. Attendees' learned what the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) established for when restraint and seclusion can be used on a students attending public school. We also reviewed and discussed how the VDOE proposed regulation allows for a student to be restrained or/and secluded for actions NOT in line with the U.S. Department of Education's guiding principles for restraint and seclusion.
